The GamepadHapticActuatorType enum has been deprecated and removed from the Gamepad API spec. It has been removed to allow the user agent to define compatibility between actuators and effects. Applications are now expected to use the GamepadHapticActuator.effects for haptics capability detection.
The GamepadHapticActuatorType enum has never been officially part of the Gamepad API spec and has been removed from the Gamepad Extensions document (https://w3c.github.io/gamepad/extensions.html). Applications are now expected to use the GamepadHapticActuator.effects for haptics capability detection. The 'type' property has been removed to allow the user agent to define compatibility between actuators and effects. For example, even though a gamepad device might have dual-rumble actuators, and, therefore, being of type 'dual-rumble', the UA might not have implemented the dual-rumble feature for this specific device. In this case, the 'type' property does not convey any useful information. On the other hand, an empty 'effects' arrays tells that the UA is not capable of playing 'dual-rumble' effects on this device.
